Re: They won't germinate
Luc,
The process I do is this: File the seeds and insure the end is open a bit to
allow H2O in where the root will come out (Becareful on how much you file
;-).
Next I dip the seed's outside, with my finger kinda pluggin the hole into the
root, in a fungicide. Wrap in newspaper and put into a cooler with a 1
gallon jug of hot H2O...replacing every 8-12 hours with hot H2O...when a root
appears...I then stick this into the 4" pot and keep it inside the cooler
till the seed emerges..from here I then put in a big pot under some grow
lights till I can figure out where the true leaf is coming from (So I can
guess at where the vine direction will go (normally opposite)).
I then put out into the garden in a protect environment. Another way to keep
it inside longer is to use a great trick by George Heyne...take a 5 gallon
ice bucket and cut the bottom off and use as the top...ie...keep the lid on
and as the bottom...then when putting in the garden...just take the lid off
(bottom) and slide into the hole...no root problems!!! I like to actually
have a "temp" pot in the garden that I can just pull out and replace with the
real mccoy.
Hope this helps.
