I actually just pried open the pointed edge being careful not to damage the embryo tip. On a couple it looked like it was starting to form a root.

Did you sand the edges? If not I'd do so quick, or even gently pry open the seed case so they have a chance to emerge...

For some reason I can't seem to get my seeds to germinate. I soaked them
overnight, have them in seeding mix in 2 inch cell packs on a heating mat
under lights. 1 has come up, but I dug the others and they are swelled, but
nothing has come out yet. It has been 5 days, I don't want them to rot. The
seeds should be viable, they are not old and are from known pumpkins. Any
ideas on a next step?
