I am new to Pumpkin growing and gardening in general so pardon my ignorance. I am in SE Kansas and would like to grow 2 or three large "8 - 10 ft diameter" pumkins for my kids. I'm not going after total weight but a carvable specimin or two.
I am obsessive so I would not get discouraged with larger and would have no problem spending 1 or two hours a day tending to the process (more if can be done in the dark). I can readily allocate about 500 sq, my backyard is about .40 acre so I can make larger if necessary. I have a tendency to get carried away and this seems to be a very addictive endevor so don't hold back on recommendations but bear in mind I'm not in any competition.
I have read much of the information online and will continue to do so but wanted to get as early as a start as possible given that I havent't done any preparation to the soil yet. I will do the research and time but wanted to take advantage of all the knowledge here to get started while I coninued to do my learn. Obviously I want to start ASAP with the best recommended seed and space for what I am trying to do.
TIA, for your recommendations
