New grower

I just found and subscribed to the pumkin net. We are adopting a 9 year
old girl and she saw a picture of a giant pumkin and asked if we could
grow one. Of course I said yes. Now I need to know a few things. Like
how early do you start the seeds, I live in Washington, zone 7 or 8? Is
it better to try to direct seed or start indoors? Lastly how do you move
a giant pumpkin when it reaches it's full potential? I don't have 1000
pound pumpkin seeds, has anyone grown Prizewinner Hybrid? Glad I found
you, if have success perhaps I'll be as hooked as it seems some of you
are.
