Andrea,

The Zehr's grew their 1061.0 lb world record pumpkin in Lowville, NY

The World Pumpkin Confederation (Established in 1983) offered an award for
the first 1,000 lb. pumpkin in the amount of $50,000.00 USD. There was also
an award of $3,000.00 USD for first place in the pumpkin class at the
Clarence, NY Great Pumpkin Farm. Their total winnings were $53,000.00 USD.
It is important to note that the funds were in US Dollars as this would be
30-35% greater than Canadian funds where other contests are also held. The
World Pumpkin Confederation has promoted the 1,000 lb challenge since 1986.

Sincerely,

Ray Waterman, President
World Pumpkin Confederation
