Duncan,

I think I heard you talking about it on the pumpkin mailing list
with someone. I'm not sure, or I may have just been browsing your home
page.

I just got back in from my planted seeds. It is 39 degrees outside and
expected to get to the mid 20's tonight. I insulated my homemade
greenhouse today to get ready. I have it heated and the temp. was 79
degrees F. I soaked 14 seeds Tuesday the 15th for 1 hour and then put
them in plastic ziplocks with a moistened paper towel. They were kept
on my hot water heater for 24 hours at 80 to 85 degrees F. Last night I
transfered them to 1 gallon plastic pots cut in half but duct taped
together. I used hot water mixed with Captan to moisten the potting
soil. I used Speedling's fortified potting soil. It is the best
potting soil I have ever used. It is designed for use with tobacco
water bed plants. It wicks up water from the bottom if you choose to
stand your plants in warm water. Keeps the soil moist and not too wet
for germination of most anything. I think it will do great for
pumpkins. How many hours till germination would you expect with what I
have told you? Please feel free to forward this info. to anyone that
would be qualified to guess. Soaking till present has been about 48
hours so far.
