Re: Pumpkin Records
Your posting for Alabama is incorrect. At the first World Pumpkin Weigh-Off
for the World Pumpkin Confederation in Collins, NY back in 1983 a 416.0 lb
pumpkin was entered by an Athens, Alabama grower, Gilbert Whitt. I remember
Gilbert to be elderly at the time and it was quite a drive to come all the
way from Alabama. I'd guess that was one heck of a pumpkin back then for
Alabama, seeing how the record still stands. Would you please inform Massey
Goree of Quinton that his 401.5 lb in 1996 is not the record. Please keep in
mind that Gilbert Whitt's specimen was offically weighed by the WPC and must
have weighed more before the trip.
Just a little from WPC past.
