Howdy - I can proudly say that in my first year of pumpkin growing I
managed to take out one of the most prestigious categories at the weigh-in.
Thats right - "smallest mature Atlantic giant", weighing in at an enormous
15.4 kg.
Anyway, on a more serious note, the results are in, with a new Australian
record of 258.4 kg by Ian Miller in Victoria.
Congratulation should also go out to all the State winners, including
Stewart Deans (ACT) who is a member of this list, and Ron Wilson from
Albany (WA) who came second nationally with 227.2kg.
Congratulations to all who took part, and thankyou to AGPVS and Wendy and
George Stayner for organising such a fun day. I'll definitely be taking
part next year, and my eye is already set on getting the biggest pumpkin
prize.
NewZealand should also be congratulated with what sounded like a great day
and some very decent weights. Nice work John - the challenge is already
under way for next year.
cheers
john
