For the SPGA's Southern Cup Competition all it has to be is an official
weighing event ( a state fair would come under that) or a weighing
witnessed by an extension office agent. In the second case we would like
a photo and letter signed by the agent as to the weight and condition of
the pumpkin. The end of the entry period of is one week after the
official GPC weigh-off which is the first Saturday of October I believe,
this year Oct. 6th (?) Look for a detailed description of the Southern
Cup Competition coming soon in the SPGA's SOUTHERN PUMPKINS
magazine.Winner takes home the most beautiful cup you have ever seen (
for one year) and has their name etched upon it. It is returned for the
next championship and the winner will be given an award in place of it
for display in their home. In terms of an official event there should be
a means by which the SPGA can aquire the official results of the
weigh-off.
