Ernest:
I know of a commercial grower here in FL who has bees at the edge of his
fields. Among other things, he grows melons, hard squash, coosas, pumpkins,
hundreds of acres of tomatoes and peppers. His success is evident, fruit is
plentiful and large. I will add that the scent in the air of blooming
canteloupe was intoxicating. The bees are lucky.
Additionally, many citrus growers have bees as well.
Contact a beekeeper in your area and see if someone would lend you a hive, if
you think your field is large enough to support bees.
