Systmeic insecticide

Hello,
I am plannig on using a systemic insecticide this year to control
vine borers in the patch. Recently I found A Merit insecticde in granular
form for grub control on lawns. Is this form of Merit strong enough to work
with my pumpkins? If so, How much? Has anyone else on this list used it with
success?
