Marv,
Just read a book at Borders Book Store and it showed how to grow giant
carrots. They use a 6" diameter piece of PVC plastic pipe and fil it with
topsoil/humus. The pipe is at about a 45 degree angle with the carrot
growing from the top. The bottom of pipe is screened or covered with a
rag to prevent the dirt from coming out. The pipe is about 6 feet
long........gives carrot plenty of room to grow very large. The loose
soil is also a plus.
I believe the book was called Growing Giant Vegetables, about 80-90 pages
long.
