AG Virus Proposal

Folks have written me of 3 instances of virus problems. Tomorrow I
will upload a letter suggesting steps we might take in hopes of
controlling the virus problem.
First we need an idea of the scope of the problem. Please send me an
email today telling about any virus or suspected virus problems you know
about.
Second. Cucurbit resistance to one virus is known. Do you have any
seeds you could donate for such testing? give parentge. Do not send
seeds now. One seed per line is not enough. I am not yet sure how many
should be tested. We would plant seeds and rub virus with grit on the
cotyledon and susceptible plants will show white or yellow lesions or
worse. I have done this testing on cucumber but not pumpkin.
Please send me a private e-mail on this before midnight and I will
report back to the list Thursday with the preliminary concensus of the
group. If we choose this would be an ongoing survey, etc.
