George,
It will be real interesting to observe your results this season
following such an unorthodox solution to your 'tired soil' problem. Are you
aware
that many (some) greenhouse supply shops sell packages of large colonies
of beneficial microbes which you can easily 'infest' your garden with?
Also, are you watering with chlorinated water?

The Bradfield Plus has beneficial microbes in it. I like using unorthodox
methods anyway, have fun with it. Though most are not mine they are a
collection of ideas used by farmers many years ago and some I've seen on
various TV shows over the years. (Two shows used Pet food as a soil
additive) Many of the individual ingredients are listed in many Organic
publications. I used a bit lesser version of this last year with resulting
big improvements in my garden.
I do use chlorinated water and haven't any other choice. Yes, it does
decrease the microbial activity in the soil.
