Stem stress

Hello list,
I knew something was going to happen soon, things were going too smooth! I
noticed bad stem stress,or at least that's what I figured it is,on my
biggest one. Lots of stuff oozing out where the stem meets the fruit. What
do I do now?? Wipe off the ooze and paint with captan? How do I get this
ooze off? I know that not loosening the vine from the ground is probably
what caused this,I waited too long to do this. Another lesson learned! I
have another on the plant, but it's not growing as fast as the one with
stress, should I save the oozing one or go ahead and cull it and concentrate
on the other one?? Any advice appreciatted! Oh yeah,I also had a wonderful
time in Ohio,Thanks to you folks there for having us!
