    Where you from??? I being the rot expert here in Iowa....the last
three years I have experienced similiar fates....My guess is it isn't  a
rot at all but advanced stages of borer infestation...I always thought
that I was having trouble with some sort of rot the last three
years...but now this season I have controlled the borers....Knock on
wood...and I have great looking stumps....I think if you live in a borer
area..then this is what you probably have...does it stink really bad and
kinda foams and looks like it is fermenting?? This is what I had this
season and  a few Wisconsin growers explained to me that is was probably
borers....hope this helps!!
