Can this season be saved ?

My vines look good, I have good seeds, but the pumpkins get to about 30 or 40
inches in circumference and die off. In the spring I dug a 3 foot deep, 3
foot wide hole and filled it with pure turkey compost. I planted the plants
right in the center of the compost. The plants took a while to get started
but the vines are now 30 feet long. The soil analysis on the compost was
very high in potassium. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking
about a tissue analysis.
