potassium- magic mixture ?

potassium... magic mixture ?

Potassium, we all want it at this time of year right.
a week ago I was talking with a guy I know, telling
him about my pumpkins. He said I had to talk to a
friend of his. So he took me over to this guys house
who grows lot vegetables and does pretty well with
them. He is one of these all natural granola types.
i'm not into that, but I figure it couldn't hurt to
talk since I saw his garden and he does great with all
his vegetables! i was trying to talk pumpkins… but he
was talking in general. i brought up that fact that I
needed something high in potassium for this time of
year. He was like… duh… every one knows that. The he
proceded to ramble off a list of like 10-20 things
that are high in potassium. The main ones were
potatoes, bananas, prunes, prune juice, bamboo shoots,
chard, spinach and tomatos. He makes his own little
concoctions which are slighty different everytime -but
the theory is the same. He starts with like 5-6
potatoes which he processes one at a time in his food
processor till they are as fine as you can get them,
then he does some bananas, tomatoes, spinach or
something green besides lettuce- don't ask me why ? I
didn't ask him, i was just trying to remember it all.
carrots- apples- whatever he has lying around. he puts
his old and starting to spoil stuff in there.
he puts these all in a 5 gallon bucket, pours in a 2
gallons of prune juice and 2 gallons of water, more
less.
Mixes all up and lets it sit for week (again I don't
know why ?) then he mixes that 1 to 1 with water and
pours it right on his plants a gallon at a time. I
figured what the heck I'm desparate, I'll give it a
try. I only let my mixer sit for 3 days then I
couldn't wait any longer. I poured the whole bucket
right on the stump of my best plant and watered it in
with the hose. That was Saturday. Before then my
pumpkin was averaging like 10 lbs per day. I didn't
measure on Sunday but did on Monday. It had gain 27
lbs. in two days. Not a huge jump but an increase !
It gained 17 on Tuesday and 16 by this morning. I
don't know if they would have taken off like this
anyway, but I made another couple buckets of mixture
this morning and will put it on all my plants
Saturday. The weather has been basically the same
for the last week and a half. Cloudy all morning
then sunny in the afternoon. So it wasn't the
weather.
So there it is… for what's it worth.
I'd be interested in hearing others thoughts ? just
coincidence or am I on to something here ?
