Pumpkin growing weather in the San Francisco bay area
has been perfect for the last month. Highs in the mid
80's, lows around 60. A gentle breeze and cloudless
skies. Truly a land of the pumpkin deities and dreams
and nothing disturbs their sanctity.
My three pumpkins are all doing well after slowing
down some from their torrid growth rate noted in July
and early August. Athena put on three inches in
circumference last night after averaging only one a
day over the last week. Hera and Athena have
recovered and seem unfazed from the severe case of
antracnose they had. Current measurements are as
follows:
Aphodite: (947 Patrick) 287 OTT, pollinated June 5 by
my daughter Amanada
Athena: (937 Mombert) 305 OTT, pollinated June 1 and
growing strong.
Hera: (875 Dill) pollinated June 2, Hera refuses to
reveal her size and threatened to turn me into a goat
if I mention it.
Not all the mysteries of the deities can be revealed.
