Gordon, good point!
Actually, about this "theory", *I* came up with almost
this same idea
about
2-3 months ago, but only talked to Nic Welty and Mike
Neperency about
it. It
is interesting how Diana "picked up" on it all of a
sudden and slapped
her
name on it! Go figure! And in the analogy of the
theory I came up with,
I
used the "steel can" air pressure experiment as a
comparison, too.
Cooincidence? Hmm....
Actually she is off on a few points, but pretty close
to the exact
things
that I came up with. I wonder if Mike or Nic mentioned
it to her. The
theory
I came up with had to do with pressure/temperature
interrelationships.
In the
sun air in a pumpkin's cavity can heat up inside, then
if the temps
drop fast
enough, you get a higher pressure inside, as well as
expanding inner
wall
tissue cells and contracting outer wall cells.
Considering the size and
mass
of the fruit, this could cause bursting. It could
cause imploding force
also
if the internal temps are low and the external temps
raise high enough
too
fast for the internal temp to catch up.
Anyway I was talking about all of this long ago. It
COULD just be
cooincidence that she came up with the same idea, but
when she puts her
name
on it like that, and the fact that in the past she has
had an attitude
towards me for some reason along with a few others, it
is a bit
curious. Oh
well. I ceertainly wouldn't put my name on something
like that! Not
only is
it conceited, but, who wants something negative named
after them? If
the
strain of bacterial wilt that I have is in fact a new
strain, I
certainly
would not want it called Sedlar disease. Yikes!
