The SEPGA Weigh was held Saturday August 26.
The final results were:
Pumpkin Weight
Mike Nepereny 1st place $300.00 492 lbs.
John Weekley 2nd place $150.00 375 lbs
Doug Adams 3rd place $50.00 288 lbs
Interesting fact, every single pumpkin weighed was under the
estimate. The drought
is thought to be involved.
John Weekley grows with Bob Attaway and he weighed the 862
VanIderstine. Several
of the growers are not on the net.

Several growers were unable to attend due to business.
I apologize to any grower I may have omitted, there were
several attendees I did not
have a chance to meet.
A special thanks to Barb Kincaid of Florida and Frank
Millican of Louisiana who
traveled a great distance to attend.
Next year we plan to get well over the 600 pound barrier,
which to-date no grower
in the Southeast has attained. Mike Nepereny is the closest
at 592 lbs. in 1999.
In 2001 we hope to double the list of growers by getting
fellow growers from
North And South Carolina to attend. Growers from Louisiana,
Alabama, Mississippi,
Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. are
eligible and welcome.
After the weigh off we had a picnic and everyone shared
pumpkin Pictures. I plan to
post Pictures soon.
