looking for CA sun

How does anyone grow giant pumpkins in cool cloudy weather?  Our pumpkins
are sitting here looking good but not putting on the pounds.  Usually we're
misting to keep cool but over the last week we were lucky to make into the
upper 60's to low 70's.  Any suggestions out there.
