I like your theory, Larry, it seems very plausible.
We can call it the Checkon Immaturity Theory if nobody
objects.
I'm not sure there is a good way to prove your theory.
And I believe that there are other plausible
explanations. One possible explanation for no viable
seeds in a mature pumpkin would be that the pumpkin
flower did not fertilize properly for some reason but
the pumpkin set anyway.
Another possible explanation is the airplane ride
moonie took when you flew it up to the Letterman Show.
The rapid pressure drop in the cargo hold could have
caused all the seeds to blow their guts out, leaving
empty shells.
Anyway I like your theory. It suggests that you
shouldn't make your pumpkin too comfortable or it
won't have any children.
