If the stem is long enough, you can move the pumpkin a bit each day to
increase the angle. If the stem is thick and the pumpkin too small to stay
put, use a brick and thin piece of styrofoam to hold it in place. If it's
a really bad case you can, as a last resort, encourage the pumpkin to grow
on its head (stem down). Trench below the vine enough so the weight of the
pumpkin is carried mostly by the soil. This is a gamble, but if your only
option is to lose the pumpkin then what the hell.

My LaRue fruits self-culled. Two remain, and one is a beauty. Round as a
cantaloup. BUT the angle of the stem to the vine is quite acute. Is
there aught I can do to save this fruit? Thanks! Kathie
