Re: Stump Rot

will try, has rained for most of the day here and was getting dark when i noticed and pasted last night.  I have a day off tomoro and will try and sort it then hopefully with dry weather.  I used a little bleach in my paste.  Is that the sort of thing to put on the pumpkin stem too if it starts to crack?

thanks for your advice.

I have found (over the years of losing plant stumps) that you must clean out
any soft tissue. Applying a paste over a bacterial soft spot, will not do the
trick. I take a very sharp knife, and trim off all orange, until you hit
fresh tissue. Themn take straight bleach and apply to the trimed area with a
small paint brush. Put a fan on the stump, during the day and cover the stump
at night, (you dont want any dew, or moisture on the stump.) If it is going
to rain , cover the stump. I have done this for the last several years, and
have been able to save many stumps. If you have dry weather, and you use the
fan, your stump, will be dry in 2-3 days.
