Stem and Stump problems

ok, here is what i have done. It may be
wrong. it may be drastic but it's certainly a learning curve.
To the stump and the stem of the pumpkin itself i
have,
1. Scraped away all soft/softening tissue
2. Applied bleach to the area
3. Let this dry and reapply the bleach a few
times
4. although a little moist from the bleach i have dusted with
hormone rooting powder (all i have at the moment and contans captan) and brushed
off excess. Hopefully this will work and keep the problem and
bay.
