Re: Oh Deer!

Deb,

With any luck, I will be trying out a Venison Pumpkin Stew.

We did not give up on my son's pumpkin. You don;t just give up o a six
hundred pounder. It has undergone surgery. For the past 24 hours, we have
tended to it hour by hour. The deer put a triangular chunk out of the fruit.
Causing two splits to the cavity in two different directions. I put Daconil
on it (they no longer sell Cpaptan here). Then, caulk again and again and
again. The biggest crack was about 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide for about 6-7
inches. We finally resorted to stuffing paper towels into the slit to hold
the caulk. We were in the patch as late as 12:30 am.
This morning I added Saran Wrap the the mix.

With dry weather and a lot of care, the hole is sealed for now. But, who
knows. It was open to the air for close to 24 hours. Rain got in too. That's
also too long for insects and disease.

I told my son we will not know until Halloween or whenever it rots. If it's
rotting from the inside, I don' know how long it wil take to show up.

By the way, I can't throw the other two in my compost pile. They are bigger
than the compost pile. They are a compost pile all by themselves!

Yes, PNN will report all the results around the pumpkin world. But, I might
take this opportunity to go to another event for once in Canada, or PA. or
Ohio.

Bob
