Irradiating a pumpkin would simply cook it. It wouldn't last
as long and it would be mushier.... It would also probably
kill the seeds if you blasted it hard enough.
It is also expensive and the facilities that could do it are
few and far between. However, if you just mailed it to
Washington DC, the post office would do it for free....
