I have an idea for you Beth....

Rig up the microwave, so you can leave the door open.  then set the pumpkin 
next to the microwave, and zap it for a few seconds and then give it a break 
and rotate it, and do it again and again.  Who cares if you give the 
neighbors cat cancer............
