Ahem.... I take insult to those remarks.. I suppose you people are the same ones who complained about a 3 cent raise in rates, but didnt say a thing when Gas prices jump 15 cents in a month's time, Water bills have tripled over the last 10 years, or your ISP is charging you on average of 3 bucks a month more since when you started on the internet.
People should really count their blessings that the hard working members of the USPS (United States Postal Service) get it there when they do. With the threat of Anthrax, with the downsizing the service is undergoing at this time, among other factors such as automation that probably is more costly than helpful, you should go out and hug your letter carrier next time he delivers your mail.
As for the (occasional delay) you recieve - some of you speak as if every piece of mail you ever sent or received was late - it is not as prevalant as you may think. Throughout the Postal Service, we have checks and balances to test our on time accuracies, through outside agencies as Price Waterhouse. Truth be known, we are much more timely in our deliveries than Fed Ex, UPS, or Airborne Express.
An average family will recieve 100 pieces of mail in a 4 week period, that of which less than 5 percent will be late. Yes, the United Postal Service has some delays, has some problems, but once they are identified, they get addressed, make no mistakes about it.
I do not appreciate anyone blaming the USPS with the proverbial "The checks in the mail" excuse, as most of the time, it is NOT in the mail yet. But, with the big shoulders I have, I'll carry the blame, as I have been through alot of changes, and know after 17 years of carrying the mail every day that we will always be blamed, whether accurate or not of the infraction accused of.
