Alan,
I'd love to go this Sat. but I didn't know anything about the picnic until you mentioned it. As for Topsfield, the day of the weigh-off is the 6th and I finish up my annual fishing trip to Marthas Vineyard that day. Next year I'll have to go fishing after the weigh-off at Topsfield. I am not sure how to get my pumpkins weighed this year. Unless it done at a fair its not official, is it? I'll probably go to a friend of mine who owns a company that sells metal and has a digital scale that gets calibated all the time. At least when I post my results I know their accurate, just not official. I just sent my money to the NEPGA, so I'm sure I'll be able to keep up to date as far as weigh-offs and all other activities are concerned. By the way, how does one go about naming a pumpkin after someone? What is the criteria? I am really upset I missed the giants being weighed at Marshfield. I was looking forward to seeing them. Not that the ones I did see weren't great efforts, but I just wanted to meet and kibbitz with some of the names involved and glean as much knowledge as possible.
