Hi
It's Miguel from Argentina
I have been reding carefully all the group correspondance and learning a
lot.
Here is the end of the history with my pumpinks.
Remember that I have two pumpkins (258 and 340 lbs.) and with my friendS we
planned a giant stew " carbonada en zapallo" that is served inside the
pumpkin. But finnaly I decided to give it to my church where poor people
receive a daily meal. They made food, marmalade and mashed it to be used in
sauce with tomato for using it with pasta.
We showed the pumpkins in a local "feria" that is a kind of show and "they"
were in the local television and newspapers. Finnaly we decide to make a
pumpkin show next autumn (with the town government) so I recover the seeds
from the two "babies"; and now we are distributing it to the people who
wants to participate in the competition with some instructions that I have
prepared using information from this place and some web pages (thanks to
everybody).
I recover 165 and 358 seeds from each pumpkin, but they are all the same
genetic. This is interesting because we are going to see differences in
cultural tecnics, but for the future we are going to need some different
genetic. So if anyone desires to give some seeds to me I will distribute
them with some people so next year we can have more genetic variation. I can
send bubble packs stamped, but because it is expensive for us (one dollar is
near 3 pesos) please try to put inside the pack the most you can.
Thanks a lot, again
Miguel E. Mejma
