I put some professional weed block under my pumpkins this year when they were
about basket ball size. If you wait to much longer you can't lift them up
very well. I will also have someone help me put the professional weed block under
them while I lift the pumpkin up. Just be very careful doing this so you
don't break them off. And I put up a tarp supported by PVC pipe not to long after
that.
