Hello all
Another first year grower dilemma I have a estimated 220# pumpkin that has
developed a inch or so deep crack where the stem attaches to the pumpkin.
The crack is at a right angle to the stem kind of running about three
inches around the circumference of the stem. ( I hope that makes since) I
packed it with captan. Here is the dilemma I need to cut a pumpkin tomorrow
evening for the Indiana state fair contest, Sat Aug 16, with this crack
being this deep should I cut this pumpkin and put it in the contest?? I
probed the crack gently with a piece of coat hanger wire and it does not go
thru to the center cavity but I fear that it might soon. The other pumpkins
is have for the contest are a bit smaller but are very sound. Any help
will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks Steve
