Soft spot - Please HELP!

My Escondida, daughter of the 573 Stucker, has a soft spot about the
diameter of a pea. This soft spot is topside, and the rest of the
pumpkin is firm and sound. Is there anything I can do besides kissing
her goodbye? She's about 86 inches in diameter, and there's another,
same size, fruit on the plant.
