Thanks for the messages... My soil, while I've done a lot of work on it, I still started with soil that tested as 7.8 pH two seasons ago. So, maybe it's now a little better than that, but not by much. You may be right about the weather. Over most of the summer, we had lows in the low 60's and highs between 95 and 102. It has been extremely hot here and this was a little unusual. Then again, not "THAT" unusual. Everyone I know in Idaho has had a "down" year, and from what I see on web most of the growers in Utah are a little down as well. But right now, the weather is perfect. It's not just a slow grower... It has absolutely stopped! At day 35...? Maybe the plant will go down with something. That's what happened to another plant this year, first the fruit stopped growing and a few weeks later the plant went down. Still grasping for answers... Regards, Cliff

Cliff: With all the time you've spent on getting your soil right, I cannot
help but think it is related to your climate. Are there other growers in
your immediate area who are having success in August? You mentioned that
you have hot days and sometimes cold nights. I know pumpkins like cool
nights, but hot days and cold nights might release some kind of biological
signal to stop growth.

I'm afraid I'd believe it (that it's an AG). My 922.5 Emmons fruit basically
stopped growing on day 35, at around 90 inches circumference. What's
more frustrating is that I've tried this for four years now, and every
August
when growth should be ramping up, my growth slows down. Everything is
good until that point. I have no idea why I can't get them to grow in
August.
This is extremely frustrating...
