Hi Kathie
As long as it doesn't go all the way thru it may just be a surface spot. 
Take a tooth brush with some bleach and water and scub the spot. If it is 
just on the  outside it will make a small dimple then dry out. If it coming from 
the inside the pumpkin is a gonner.
