Bill, How big are your pumpkins. I'm just curious how far behind I am. Will
these cold temps stop the growth? and will warm temps in the weeks to follow
be
able to keep it growing?

Not very big this year. I have a few that are starting to go, but right now
the biggest are only the size of a basket ball. I didn't get them in till late
and with the cold ground temps it took a while before they would even run. I
have some very nice plants now and all we have to hope for is a warm fall, I
need another solid month of growing and warm weather.
As for cold temps and stopping growth, from what I have seen it doesn't stop
growth unless we get frost. What it does do is slow down growth. Kathie's
question was a good one. Yes I cover the pumpkins over with a blanket when the
nights are cold. Other wise it takes a good part of the day to warm the
pumpkin up and get it growing again.
Here is to August weather in September!
Best of luck to all.
Bill, from cold, cold Michigan
