If you want good INSULATION from both heat and cold, try a blanket and then a tarp over that.

I would like to echo question #2-3, since I am battling dry, high heat, too.
#2... Can a blanket cook your fruit?
#3... I am especially wondering if my plants will fare better if I provide partial shade for the entire plant. They seem to be stressed from the heat all the time.

List, Only faithful Bill Garvey responded to my question about covering your pumpkin with wool, and he didn't know. It seems to me that wool will gather moisture about it and rot the fruit, but I don't know. Has anyone tried it?
Question 2 on the same subject: Some growers keep their fruit covered day and night, even in hot places in hot weather. I am curious to hear the pros and cons of this practice.
Question 3, for David: When you shade your plants, do you shade as much of the plant as possible or just the new growth? Do you shade all the time or only in serious heat?
Thanks! David & Kathie --
