Wood ashes are an excellent source of potash, and can also help to raise
your soil's pH if you have acidic soil.

I have read that wood ashes from a wood stove placed on your garden during
winter and tilled into the soil is good for pumpkin growth. Anyone else
heard of this or have any opinions about this theory?
Thanks,
Mark
