RE: What is this wound?

Mark,

I had a similar wound show up on two of my fruits. In each case, I
found that I had left a tarp over the fruit on a hot day. In some
cases where the tarp is touching the fruit, it can actually burn.

I found each of these on the same day... very hot, and when I removed
the tarp it was "sticking" (like a post-it note) to the fruit. After
removing it, I had a few spots that were pure white, on the fruit
where the tarp was touching. Now these spots have sunk in a bit...
I've been battling mildew in them... occaisionally cleaning them out
with a bleach solution and trying to keep them dry. Unfortunately,
one of them holds water like a dish.

But it's been more than a month, the fruit seems solid, and I'm trying
to hold it intact for another two weeks when I can take it to the fair.

Good luck, Cliff
