Final re: Plant Disease
Thanks to all who helped educate me with their responses to my first posting.
I can now add that the source of my problem became more obvious once I
followed Craig's advice to cut off the dying leaves, which produced a passable
access trail to the plant base, previously inaccessible without doing major
damage! Imagine my suprise to find that the main had somehow developed a wound
about 4 inches away from ground entry point; it had been compressed and
twisted, remaining slightly open from this occurrence earlier in the year. No
flow, no go! The mark in the ground on the hill beside it bore a striking
resemblance to the paw print of my 120 lb. Mountain Pyrennes, who of course,
denies ever having been near the patch! Live and learn, build fences! Thanks
again!
Stuart
