Re: vine borers
Use some Triazicide, found on all Wal-Mart and Lowe's or other Dept. stores
shelves. It's not easy to get the Warrior, Scimitar, etc. easily and it
costs an arm and a leg. A good knowledge of Chemistry can save a whole hell
of a lot of money and accessibility. The above listed insecticides aren't
systemic, although there have been rumors circulating that it is. As for
Merit, get the Bayer Advance Grub control containing the active ingredient
Imidacloprid also on the above shelfs. Imidacloprid has been experimented
and used on certain edible vegetables i.e. potatoes and others but I
wouldn't recommend it. I'm surprised that the above mentioned stores don't
have Daconil or the "Garden Disease Control" product which is 26.9%
Chlorothalonil. I have to obtain it from a Farm & Garden Center (Southern
States) Co-Op. E-mail me if you need further advice. Don

forum...PLEASE use caution with these types of pesticides...Merit is not
recommend for gardens if you have edible plants, fruits.? So only use if the
pumpkins are isolated and you're not going to roast the seeds or eat the
fruit.? :-)?
