Steve, you are growing this thing because you wanted a GIANT pumpkin so grow it big first then worry about color. When they get to the scale its only the pounds that count. Use black and white film in your camera solves the color problem, lol Sometime in September you can begin to leave it uncovered during the daytime to help it develop some color but recover it at night to keep it warm and encourage growth. I have a giant pumpkin about 4 feet(and getting bigger) across which I am hoping will make it to a local Vermont weigh-off in October. I have kept it well shaded, and it is almost white. Do I worry about the color, or do I just grow it big? This my first big giant. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin-growing archives: http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/ To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PUMPKINS
