oddity?

Can you guys help us? My Brother has a nice fruit in the works. We checked
it this afternoon and it has developed something I have never seen before.
There is a golf ball-sized "nodule" or "gall" that has developed at the
juncture between the fruit and stem. It is hard and green like the stem. I
know the rules on pinholes and the like as far as weighoffs are concerned.
Would this disqualify him if it stays intact? Should he leave it be or try
to remove it? Is this a form of blowout?

What do you think?

Steve
