Causes for Hollow Pumpkin

So far, without a soil test, I have found the following reasons for a hollow
giant: Too much nitrogen at the beginning of the fruits development; not
enough boron; not enough calcium; not enough watering followed by too much
watering. If I can perfect growing hollow giant pumpkins so they don't
collapse, jack-o-lantern carving will never be the same. :-) Steve M.
