stem rot

Hey guys.
I went to take measurements today and found a stem split/rot on a fruit.
Applied Daconil and went to try the Borax. My wife used all of the Borax on
silly things like laundry. In the past, I have discarded fruit if the stem
becomes unattached at this point. Has anyone had a fruit "finish" after cut
from the vine this early? By that, I mean had the fruit orange and harden.
I'm still in the soft, yellow, rapid growth stage and realize that October
is a stretch. I would like to get at least fertile seeds. I did paint the
ends on my other fruit (thanks Dave!) just in case.
Just wondering,
Steve Haberman
