Water Consumption?

Hi,

I have notice in my largest plant a good accumulation of water inside the
leaf stems. I would have to estimate this to be about 2 to 3" of water.

Is the purpose of this stored water for later consumption by the pumpkin or
is it utilized by the leafs during high respiration periods,
or perhaps neither?
