Vanessa & Genetics

Vanessa:

I can relate to your facination with genetics, but I'm not as convinced as
you are that common genetic principles apply to the size characteristics in
giant squash. I believe that there is a number of genes that are
responsible (directly and indirectly) for large fruit. I don't think that
an additive theory of "big genes" has been clearly shown to cause large
fruit in Atlantic Giants. I don't think anyone has looked closely enough
into the matter to determine the inheritence patterns of giant squash.
There are many possibilities that could be occuring.... perhaps incomplete
dominance, or maybe maternal inhertance????

Have you heard of any specific inheritence or other genetic relationships
in giant squash?? I would like to find out more about this topic as well.
