White flies

Does anyone have any experience with getting rid of white flies?  I just
discovered an infestation on the underside of my pumpkin leaves this
a.m.  I tried spraying with Malathion, checked it about an hour later &
they were right back in place & just as lively, so I then sprayed with
Diazinon.  This seems to have killed some of them but they are still
present. Does this insecticide take awhile to work? Would it be okay to
spray again tomorrow - I'm going to be gone for a week & I'd like to get
those nasty white flies gone before I go.
